It's been a while since the last blog entry, but development did advance. There were in fact a few days where I didn't find time to move on with development, but those were rare...

After I had released V0.7, I made a little announcement on the Unity forums for a little "tournament". Soon, we had a game with 5 or 6 people. That was quite a lot of fun, but it also revealed some design issues.

Most of the ideas that came from this session are already implemented, and so is the logic and visuals for all power-ups (their HUD representation is not the way it will be, yet, though). What I still need to do is make those new powers-ups network capable, and do some really needed cleanup for the remaining code and game logic. Due to the "quick prototyping approach" I've been following with this game so far, some things just aren't the way I'd like them to be - and some simply don't work as they should (especially in the single player modes that I have treated... well... not too good since I've started the multiplayer parts).

Well, just yesterday, Unity 2.0.2 was released, so now I'm ready for another release. Weekend and a somewhat silent week from he "business point of view" is coming, so I'll have time to really move on...

V0.8 is mostly about the powerups. V0.9 will then include different arenas. Finally, V1.0 will be "the complete game" , i.e. all the functionalities and features I have envisioned for JC's Unity Multiplayer TRaceON (including the tutorial, community-features, player persistence etc.). I will start with V1.0b1, which means beta one, and will then release free betas until I feel the game is stable enough for a final build to be published...

So... well, I feel I'm getting near completion of my first game. That does feel good... I guess one or two more months... yeah, I know "behind schedule"... but, that's (game developer's) life ;-)
